The Los Angeles Stars defeated the Havana Metropolitanos, 3-1, in Western Conference action at Stars Ballpark. Los Angeles pitcher Tadeu Carneira had a standout performance. Ricky Minjarez earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Los Angeles now has a record of 49-41 with the win.

Jose Gonzales drove in one run for Los Angeles. The 30-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Bill Lohry. It was his 65th RBI of the season.

"Tadeu did a good job keeping the game under control," said Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers.
