Thunderbirds Suffer Humbling Loss
The Philadelphia Spectres soundly defeated the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 12-3, at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Vincent Horvers, who is tied for 4th in the EC in home runs with 19, let his bat do the talking. He was 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for Philadelphia. With this game in the books, Philadelphia is 46-42, Phoenix 33-57.

Ron Gideon had a big run-scoring double for the Spectres in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 35-year old right-handed pitcher Ernesto Alvarez and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Spectres ahead, 3-1.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Philadelphia manager Ryan Huff.
