Both offenses were relatively subdued at Staples Field. Fortunately for the San Diego Destroyers, though, Marc Sanders was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2, to lead his team past the San Francisco Friars, 3-2. Victor Balaguer was credited with the save for San Diego, his 4th of the season. The Destroyers sport a record of 35-53.
Edward Black, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, helped out the San Diego cause in the top of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder was 1-4.
"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Erich Weatherholt.
