Destroyers Win at Home, 7-2
|
The San Diego Destroyers converted a terrific effort from starter Trevor Laverick into a win over the Kansas City Athletics at Seaward Stadium. The Destroyers won the game by a final score of 7-2. Laverick picked up the win for San Diego, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 6-5. At 43-45, San Diego is in third place in the Western Conference John Sexton Division.
Riichi Otomo went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for San Diego. The 30-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Arturo Covarrubias. It was his 48th hit of the season.
"This is not a one-man show," said Laverick. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
