Avispas Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
|
The timely hitting of Sergio Folha helped the Santiago Avispas down the Brooklyn Browns, 4-3. Folha was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Avispas. Divino Aljeroz, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Ivan Rivas recorded the save, his 1st.
Mayumi Watanabe drove in one run for Santiago. The 28-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Kyle Burch. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Santiago skipper Jacob Pauly.
The loss has the Browns at 4-4.
