Dragons Deal Tucson 7-1 Defeat
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Portland Dragons and Tucson Toros.
Portland turned a fine outing from starter Yandri Vido into a victory over the Tucson Toros at Portland Park. The final score was 7-1. Vido, the winner, moves to 8-4. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 4 walks.
Min-chor Ann had a big 3-run home run for the Dragons in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Portland leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Edwin Castaneda and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Dragons on top, 7-1.
"Yandri controlled the strike zone," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
The Dragons move to 48-37 with the win, while the Toros drop to 38-47.
