Houston beat Denver on the strength of starting pitcher James Wilkinson's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Houston reliever Yasuhiro Katayama snagged the win, upping his record to 5-2. Roger Kuilan shouldered the loss. Today's win puts Houston at 50-36, while Denver falls to 46-39.

Had Manny Venzor not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Venzor hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Aquas.

"James was throwing free and easy," said Houston manager Brandon Coroian.
