The Chicago Phantoms racked up a win at Foster Field, bumping off the Alaska Kodiaks, 4-3. Taisei Yamamoto, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. Yamamoto yielded 3 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Chicago now owns a record of 50-36.
Alberto Guardiola had a big run-scoring double for the Phantoms in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Xiang-ling Khoo and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phantoms ahead, 4-0.
"It's still just a game," said Guardiola, "whether you win or lose."
