Kansas City Upended by Alaska, 5-2

Savino Dore, who is tied for 3rd in the WC in innings pitched with 106.2, propelled his team to victory over the Kansas City Athletics. The final score was 5-2, Alaska. Alaska pitcher Bill Mauck got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mark Curry got the loss. The Kodiaks saw their win-loss record go to 40-45. At the same time, the Athletics fell to 48-36.
The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Shigenobu Shimamoto. For the game, Shimamoto was 1 for 1 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Alaska a 4-2 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Alaska manager Alex King.
