Late Rally by Senators Secures 3-1 Win
The Washington Senators earned a close win over the St. Louis Gaedels, thanks in part to Steve McFarlen. The Washington right-hander, who finished 5th in the WC in innings pitched with 211.2 in 2073, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Picking up his 2nd save was 28-year old left-handed pitcher Julio Mendoza. The victory makes Washington 5-4.

Alex Tejeda came through with a big-time hit for Washington. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

McFarlen said his team "played with determination."
