Avispas Win 4th Straight, Take Down Metropolitanos, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring game between the Santiago Avispas and the Havana Metropolitanos, pitcher Julius Miller was the difference-maker. The Santiago right-hander was tough as nails in the 3-2 Avispas win. Miller got the win, improving to 11-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Ricardo Riveron earned his 25th save, after closing out the game.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when first baseman Brandon Nofziger hit a single. The Avispas went on to win.
"It was a real good effort by Julius," said Santiago manager Jacob Pauly. "I loved the way he bore down."
The Avispas own a robust 60-22 mark.
