Destroyers Lose at Home, 6-3, to Alaska
|
Stuart Stephenson, who finished 2nd in the WC in strikeouts with 231 in 2075, was locked in. The right-hander led the Alaska Kodiaks to a 6-3 win against the San Diego Destroyers at Seaward Stadium. The winner was Stephenson. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Bob Castillo. Juneau Beauchamp collected save number 5.
Alaska second baseman Carlos Guadamuz helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"I went out and just tried to do my job," said Stephenson.
The win gives Alaska a season record of 46-35.
