Santiago pitcher Aaron Ranks did his part in helping his team defeat the Boston Greens, 3-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. The first-place Avispas are now 57-22, the Greens 42-37.

Homer Hanes, who finished 3rd in the EC in home runs with 43 in 2079, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hanes contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Santiago up, 3-0.

"That's baseball," said Boston manager Matt Glazer. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
