Miami Offense Jammed Up by Browns
|
Matt Pontius was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at Brown Town. In fact, the Brooklyn Browns left-hander was instrumental in his team's 3-0 victory over the Miami Cyclones. Ocean Mendoza notched his 15th save of the season. Brooklyn is third in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division with a record of 40-40.
The Browns got a big at-bat from second baseman Jack Bird. For the game, Bird was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 16th double of the season gave Brooklyn a 2-0 lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Brooklyn skipper Jason Cormier. "I can't complain."
