Spectres Lose to Maine, 5-2
|
Maine and Philadelphia put this game in the books despite some rain.
Though he had a great game, Ron Gideon could not single-handedly produce a win for Philadelphia. Maine won the game, 5-2. Gideon was 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Aaron Narduzzi, who finished 4th in the WC in saves with 26 in 2080, was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was Jimmy Biair. Masato Nishihara earned the save for Maine, his 19th of the year.
The Spectres had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Lobster going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old first baseman Guo-feng Lei came to the plate. Lei hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 fastball from Philadelphia hurler Jimmy Biair. It was Lei's 17th double of the year.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Lei said.
With the win, the Lobster improved to 38-42.
