Houston got a decent performance from pitcher Slider Brooks, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Francisco Friars. San Francisco won the Staples Field contest, 4-3. Brooks threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The 4th-place Friars are 39-39.

The Friars got a clutch hit from shortstop Luis Valera. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Friars.

"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Houston manager Brandon Coroian.
