Phantoms Squelch Athletics Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Chicago Phantoms beat the Kansas City Athletics, 3-0, at Foster Field. Starting pitcher Craig Kruppenbacher was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Earning the save was Wessel Paans. He's now cashed in 4 of 4 save opportunities. At 44-33, Chicago is in second place in the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division.
Chicago took a 3-0 lead on Miklas Shervill's 14th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Shervill hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Kansas City pitcher Elijah Yates visibly frustrated.
Shervill told the Chicago Daily: "I was born for the big stage."
