Seattle Absorbs 2-1 Loss to Alaska
|
Starting pitcher Chris Maxwell was a major factor in the 2-1 Alaska Kodiaks triumph over the Seattle Arrows. Javy Granillo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-2. Justin Miller was tagged with the loss. Juneau Beauchamp collected his 2nd save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Kodiaks had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the sixth, when first baseman Shigenobu Shimamoto hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Justin Miller and made the score 2-1, Kodiaks. Shimamoto went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"The old adage is true," said Shimamoto. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Alaska's record now stands at 37-40, placing them last in the Western Conference John Sexton Division.
