Stars Drop Close One Late
|
The Tucson Toros snuck past the Los Angeles Stars, 5-4, in 10 innings. Tucson pitcher Miguel Moquete, in particular, had a standout performance. The Toros now own a record of 39-37.
The decisive blow was delivered by Martyn Gheldere in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Raiko Leon to win the game for Tucson. The home crowd went nuts.
Gheldere said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
