Thunderbirds Suffer 3-1 Setback

Both offenses were relatively subdued at Legednary Park. Fortunately for the Tucson Toros, though, Jose Pedroza was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, to lead his team past the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 3-1. The win went to Edwin Castaneda in relief, making him now 2-2. Sumiki Kono took the loss for Phoenix. Picking up the save was two-time All-Star Miguel Moquete.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Pedroza delivered big-time for Tucson, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Nick Crook. The game-changing hit put the Toros on top, 2-1.
"The other side played a good game," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch. "You tip your cap to them."
The win makes Tucson 34-42.
