The Minneapolis Vikings had to overcome a good performance from Phoenix pitcher Carlos Torres to claim a 3-2 win at Minneapolis Grounds. Torres went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. The win makes Minneapolis 45-32.
Had Sam Cone not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Cone hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Vikings.
Afterward, Vikings manager Ace Cooan said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
