In a splendid 6-0 shutout performance, Jay Barrientos of the Phoenix Thunderbirds subdued the Minneapolis Vikings on a 2-hitter.

"He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes, so I kept sending him out there," Phoenix manager Joe Busch said in postgame comments.
