Thunderbirds Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds, despite a fine performance by Kansas City pitcher Roberto Rueda, grabbed a 1-0 win at Legednary Park. Rueda allowed 1 run over 6 innings. John Intriago recorded the save, his 1st. The loss drops Kansas City to 3-5.
The Thunderbirds got a big at-bat from third baseman Min-yul Lee. For the game, Lee went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Phoenix a 1-0 lead.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.
