Houston pitcher Slider Brooks had a large part in his team beating the Las Vegas Aces, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Danny Mathews picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Dave Fife, who is tied for 8th in the WC in holds with 8, was tagged with the loss. Ron Gelsomino was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.

Frank Lung hit a run-scoring double off J.P. McNealy in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Aquas in front, 4-3. In addition to the double, Lung had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"We've had a tough go of it," said Las Vegas manager Justin Coroian. "But we'll snap out of this funk."
