Armijo Lifts Rangers to 5-2 Win
Buffalo and Havana got after it at Bison Stadium.

The Buffalo Rangers polished off the Havana Metropolitanos by the score of 5-2. The largest share of the credit belonged to right fielder Alonzo Armijo. Armijo was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rangers. Jose Nereida was the winner. He's now 6-3. The loser was two-time All-Star Buddy Verveer. Phillip Dalley earned the save for Buffalo, his 5th of the year.

Armijo contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Buffalo in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Armijo took a knuckle curve from Buddy Verveer and stroked the double to right. His 11th double of the season allowed the Rangers to leap in front, 3-2.

Buffalo manager Alex Beckman attributed the win to "a little bit of this and a little bit of that."

The second-place Rangers improved to 39-33.
