Greens 3-1 Losers to Montreal
|
At Arrington Park, the Boston Greens and Montreal Harfangs were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Montreal Harfangs topped the Boston Greens, 3-1, in Eastern Conference action at Arrington Park. The standout performance belonged to Montreal pitcher and Claremont, California, native Antonio Avellaneda. Avellaneda, now 7-6, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Ron Trevathan, who led the WC in ERA with 1.97 in 2074, earned the save for Montreal.
Freddy Gonzales had a direct impact on the outcome. Gonzales contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Montreal up, 2-0.
In postgame comments, Gonzales told the Montreal Citizen: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
The Harfangs sit in second place in the Eastern Conference Paul Pagac Division with a record of 39-32.
