The Alaska Kodiaks overcame a good performance by Las Vegas right fielder Juan Carrizales to knock off Las Vegas, 8-5, at Western Coliseum. Carrizales was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The loss drops Las Vegas to 4-3.

Lanny Tabares helped out the Alaska cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Alaska manager Alex King.
