Stars Clip Aquas, 3-2
|
The Los Angeles Stars got a marvelous performance from pitcher Ricky Zika. The right-hander kept the Houston offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Los Angeles victory at Stars Ballpark. In 6.1 innings, Zika surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, Los Angeles is 5-2.
In the bottom of the 6th, center fielder Ramão Bizarro gave Los Angeles the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Stars had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Houston pitcher Chris Bender changed that -- and Los Angeles went on to win.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Bizarro.
