Arrows Nipped by Kodiaks, 4-3
|
The Alaska Kodiaks picked up a win at Tundradome, knocking off the Seattle Arrows, 4-3. On the mound for Alaska was right-hander Stuart Stephenson. He played a key role in the triumph. In 7 innings, Stephenson surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Alaska, at 41-30, is 3 games up in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from third baseman Alderaan Pike. For the game, Pike went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 24th double of the season gave Alaska a 2-1 lead.
After the game, Alaska manager Alex King applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
