Los Angeles used a superb performance from starting pitcher Kingsley Bozek to down the Tucson Toros, 2-0, in 10 innings. Michael Daubner claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-1. The Stars win now puts them at 33-39.
Los Angeles needed the clutch hitting of Kamakana Aniani to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Stars on top, 2-0. For the game, Aniani had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Bozek. "Successful pitchers do it."
