Cyclones Bash Lobster, 12-0
|
Conditions were not ideal but Miami and Maine were able to put their game in the books.
The Miami Cyclones licked the Maine Lobster, 12-0. Matt Lawson deserved a big chunk of the credit. The designated hitter hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for the Cyclones. Ben Hicks got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 7 innings.
With Miami leading 8-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Lawson came up to bat against Maine pitcher Chris Hoglund. Lawson hit a fastball to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Cyclones on top, 12-0.
"Bad day," Maine manager Matthew McExpos said. "New day tomorrow."
The Cyclones, at 34-36, have now won 5 straight.
