Senators Beat Gaedels, 5-1
|
The Washington Senators downed the St. Louis Gaedels, 5-1. The hitting star was designated hitter Takeshi Esaki. Esaki was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Senators. Xiong Loh went 5.2 innings, allowing no runs on 7 hits. Danny Mrazek had a big solo home run for the Senators in the bottom of the fifth inning. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Senators on top, 2-0.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Esaki told a local reporter after the game.
Washington is now 30-41.
