Despite a fine performance by second baseman Willie Santos, the San Diego Destroyers lost to the Portland Dragons, 7-5. Santos was 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win went to Omar Mendez in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jared Gutierrez took the loss. With the win, Portland has a record of 34-37. San Diego falls to 27-44.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Du Kau came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing San Diego pitcher Ray Broekhuizen, he hit a 0-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Portland on top, 5-4.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Kau. "I like it."
