San Diego and Denver got after it at Seaward Stadium.

San Diego right fielder Don Zufelt helped his team beat the Denver Glaciers, 9-5. Zufelt, who is tied for 7th in the WC with a .406 on-base percentage, went 3 for 4 for the Destroyers. Yoshino Yada was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts.

The Glaciers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Destroyers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 34-year old right fielder Norlis Gonzalez came to the plate. Gonzalez hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-1 slider from Denver hurler Raul Garibaldi. It was Gonzalez's 6th double of the year.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Gonzalez.

The second-place Glaciers dropped to 36-34.
