Houston got an elite performance from starting pitcher Ricky Zika in securing a 4-1 decision over the Alaska Kodiaks. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 44-26.

Rich Norlander dealt the Kodiaks a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Houston leading 1-0, Norlander hit a 1-2 splitter for a run-scoring single.

In postgame remarks, Norlander hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
