Late Rally by Thunderbirds Locks Up 2-0 Win
In a low-scoring affair between the Phoenix Thunderbirds and the Kansas City Athletics, pitcher Ernesto Alvarez was the difference between victory and defeat. The Phoenix right-hander earned kudos in the 2-0 Thunderbirds win. Phoenix reliever John Intriago picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Elijah Yates took the loss. The win gives the Thunderbirds a record of 23-47.

Cody McLaughlin came through with a big-time hit for Phoenix. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Ernesto was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch.
