Kodiaks Mow Down Senators, 9-2
|
The Alaska Kodiaks beat the Washington Senators, 9-2, at Tundradome. The win was due in part to left fielder Ryan McCray, who was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Mike Blain. He tossed 84 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Alaska is now 38-30, 2 games up in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
In the bottom of the third, Alaska first baseman Felix Perez had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Perez stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 3-1, Alaska. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Perez told a Alaska Daily News reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
