The Kansas City Athletics knocked off the Los Angeles Stars, 11-3, at Ballpark of Missouri. Jerry Gomez was a big reason Kansas City won. The third baseman was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. The win hiked the Kansas City record to 38-31.

Chris Horn had a big 2-run double for the Athletics in the bottom of the second inning. With Kansas City leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Roberto Davila, who is a two-time All-Star, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 4-0.
