 | Mann Hurls Masterpiece Monday, June 14th, 2027: Clark Mann of the Birmingham Gunners was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Laredo Prowlers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 11-0 shutout. In the postgame comments, the Laredo skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Birmingham hurler had 4 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort. Mann told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay." This year Mann has worked 90.1 innings with 48 strikeouts en route to a 6-0 record and a 1.20 ERA. |
