 | Admirals Vargas No-Hits Catfish Friday, June 11th, 2027: It was a terrific day for Cisco Vargas of the Colorado Springs Admirals at Ballpark of Saint Petersburg. He stood out with a fantastic 1-0 no-hitter against the Saint Petersburg Catfish. "I knew I had a No-No going in about the sixth inning, when I noticed no one was talking to me anymore," he said, referring to the time honored superstition of teammates avoiding the pitcher so they won't jinx the no-hitter. "Don't let people fool you. Everybody on the field and in the ballpark knows what's happening. They just pretend they don't." For the game Vargas totaled 1 walk and 8 strikeouts in a very strong outing. The Colorado Springs pitching coach marveled at his performance, "His mechanics were perfect and I don't think he threw one bad pitch in the whole game. He was that good." This season Vargas has crafted a 6-1 mark with a 1.74 ERA in 77.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .186 against him and he has 57 strikeouts. |
